The photo
above shows a fortunate meeting between my art teacher Lama Dhondup
and my Buddhism teacher Guo-yuan Fa-Shih, abbot of Ch'an Meditation
Center, disciple of Master Sheng-yen. They were both in attendance at
my opening, the high point of my big night, for sure. Lama Dhondup presented
me with several gifts that night: a Dharma Wheel; a mandala diagram
and the customary kata (silk scarf) to honor a friend. I was deeply
honored by his kindness.
