The photo above shows a fortunate meeting between my art teacher Lama Dhondup and my Buddhism teacher Guo-yuan Fa-Shih, abbot of Ch'an Meditation Center, disciple of Master Sheng-yen. They were both in attendance at my opening, the high point of my big night, for sure. Lama Dhondup presented me with several gifts that night: a Dharma Wheel; a mandala diagram and the customary kata (silk scarf) to honor a friend. I was deeply honored by his kindness.
